ANC 3F creates Standing Committees to address long-term issues of concern and Ad Hoc Committees to address short-term issues as needed. Committee members are appointed by the Commission and may include any resident of ANC 3F. If you are interested serving on a committee please contact us.
Committees
- Housing & Neighborhoods Committee
The Housing & Neighborhoods Committee addresses issues of affordable housing, rent control and the housing of new residents, all of which impact our community and will continue to impact it in the years to come. The objectives of the committee are to study, and report to the commission on, the developing issues related to housing in ANC3F, to act as a conduit of housing reports from the community to the ANC, and to give voice to the concerns of our residents. In the past, the Mayor’s initiative on increasing affordable housing units throughout the city and particularly in Ward 3, along with the imminent renewal, or not, of rent control have combined to make the discussion, and action, on housing particularly cogent.

Reports / Documents
Hello Committee Members and Others–
We had a small but productive meeting. Only six of us showed up so I wonder if folks had technological difficulties. Apologies if you did.
First, we voted unanimously to name the Committee “Parks and Watersheds.” Second, we had a brief discussion of the problem of social (unofficial) trails in Rock Creek. Finally, and most importantly, altho no one volunteered to be secretary (any takers now?), everyone on the call volunteered to watchdog various issues as follows:
Soapstone Valley: Watchdog and update on reconstruction (late 2020, DC Water) Linnean Outfall—trail erosion: Lois Forster, Judy Buelow
Hearst: Watchdog and update, integrating concerns into our work per Cleveland Park listserv (disconnect between ANC and DC agencies): Cory Levine
Linnean and Broad Branch Daylighted Streams: Maintenance – Marlene Berlin
Melvin Hazen: Stream Reconstruction: DOEE, advocate on Mayor’s budget this fall: Cory Levine
Connecticut Avenue Streetscape Project: Storm water management and coordination with Streets and Sidewalks Committee: Barbara Bates
Stormwater and Water Quality Management Advocacy: Stormwater Credits: Judy Buelow; Seventh Day Adventist Church Stormwater Issues: Marlene Berlin
Thanks to all the volunteers for taking on these projects and helping to define what role the Committee and ANC can play in steering them. If you would like to help out on any of these issues (or other issues not assigned), please get in touch with the volunteers; their emails are above. If folks have other issues they want to bring up or have ideas for speakers, please get in touch with me.
Best,
Erica

- Schools & Universities Committee
The Schools & Universities Committee a group of community members passionate about community engagement, schools, and education and is meant to work with local schools and neighbors to identify issues facing students and educational institutions within ANC 3F. We hope that we can advocate for the community with other District government actors. This can be done through community engagement and being a liaison to elected officials in Ward 3.
